My simple economic equation that determines the value of things is value = scarcity of resources. There is an old Chinese saying that things are valuable because of it's' scarcity. The lesser the supply of a thing, the higher the value it will be and vice versa. When we need air and air is in abundance, it in a sense will have no value. This is the same as water. Water is so valuable when you are in the dessert but becomes cheap when you are near the river.

This, sometimes, has nothing to do with the intrinsic value of the thing itself. Diamond is so valuable not because it has much value by itself. It is purely the scarcity that drives the value up. Do we really need diamond to wear as a ring or necklace to survive? It is certainly "No". Or would diamond still be so valuable if the supply increase by a million folds today. The answer is too "No".

Water is so important to our survival. Our body is made up of almost all water. We will probably die out of water in a few days. But why water is cheaper than Wine or a can of Coke. This is because there is plenty of water around.

Remember the world is made up of two third in water. Worst to the worst, we can squeeze out potable water from the sea through desalination or any other technique at a cost. Australia and USA are in some kind of project to recycle sewerage water for drinking. Our very own Singapore has developed a superior NEWater. Moreover, we're already exporting our water technology. Maybe that's the underlying reason for the Water Week.(thr has to be sme hidden agenda behind it.- like trading water for oil?) And as long as the cost to produce water is less than oil, the value will still be less.

Oil was dirt cheap once. It cost only a fraction of it does now few years ago. A liter of gas from a gas station was only US$ 0.25 in 2003. It is almost a US Dollar now. Again, it is the economic equation of value = resource scarcity.

China is the main cause to drive up oil price. Chinese economic has been on a double digits economic growth for over a decade. The amount of gas requires to fuel the economy has been by leaps and bounds. The situation has been badly aggravated by India recently. Indian economy has also been on a two digits growth for sometimes. These two nations alone have about 3.3 billions or a third of the world population. You can imagine the impact on oil demand. This has not even counted on some smaller countries like Vietnam whose economies are soaring relentlessly.

With world oil demand keeps rising and deposit keeps depleting on one hand and better water management keeps improving while water demand leveling, I will be more than happy to trade water for oil anywhere anytime on one to one. There is no possibility that water will become more valuable than oil, "NO".

I laughed alot today, esp when i saw gabriel's pencil case! Because of the funny questions or the way it is asked. I don't see the link between laughter, high and ladies night seriously. haha! Anyways! its really great being in the same class with all of you~ Who knows, we may see each other next time in the mgmt team! haha!

Had quite some fun during class today. Learnt alot abt the various policies. haha.. if you're thinking of buying an insurance. hmm.. i may be able to give some advice. ;) We're treated to a breakfast meeting tmr with the department heads. That's the good thing with big organisation, but the cons is tt they have very little tolerance for room for error. We'll be gauged according to our productivity and error rates on charts, and contract is only upon renewal. haha~ but its gonna be exciting working for NTUC income.

I've redisovered this photobucket acct, makes my blogging easier. Pics featured the swim & bowling day out w eve, before her exchange at Beijing. (no news from you! haha u can always email me....i read mails everyday.=D) Enjoy youself there! haha.. =D

Had been undergoing intensive trg. Sitting in a room for 7 hrs or so simply makes me feel like a living zombie. And its not over yet!

For life-saving, Somehow my lap timing this week was slower than the last. "Why today so slow?" "I think its bcos i use a bigger shirt this time." "rubbish." haha! okays, we had to wear this long sleeved 6-button shirt. Remove it. and Jump into the water for the casualty at the other end, and tow him bck with the shirt. Haha. I felt tired on my way to my lesson aft work, but when i'm in e pool, i feel ENERGISED! + The free ride to e MRT aft lessons has saved me some time from walking. ;) mAny thanks! but its too late for supper, unless u wanna send me home aft tt.. haha =D..

Blessed w a good weather today! haha.. We met at ard 815 had our breakfast at Seah Imm, before we set off our Nature Trail.

Kerry's camera died halfway, haha and I was thinking, " tt was e worst thing tt cld happen to a trip like this." haha but oh well.. there's always another 1! =D I'll want to revisit it again, on a weekday, where its quiet and nice, and pictures without heads popping out jus lidddat. haha n i was busy deleting pics, to make space for more. Well.. let's me just show u the pics i've taken.

(n i looked up its really him,we walked away) haha. and then we did our sums, the total ppl of singapore, say 10% likes nature, the chance tt we'll see him is even slimmer than striking a lottery. haha~! Hmm..let me intro him abit. he's our PW grp mate in JC, and most of our values are in conflict with him, tt's y we dont really click.

Had really fun time taking snapshots, trailing butterflies just to have the moment where they settled down on a leaf on camera! haha.. well.. i'm lucky. We've discovered parts where don't look Singapore. Both of us were like looking for our own photo spots we were like really apart from each other at sme points.
We saw Adidas leaves. And hairy white stuffs growing on e leaves, tt makes u feel "yucks" haha. Spot the butterfly, maybe i shld post an not reduced 1 for clarity. Its nice!

i broke my little toe nail yest, and i lost 1 ml of blood.it is halved in height now. haha. somehw it was okays for the entire walk, until the walk back home, i was limping. The iodine is nt working!!

i got news tt some1 bought a 12 mp camera hur~! haha! bring nxt wk! we're planning to go treetop! =D

This is what i bought for myself @ Ikea. It just happy so tt they are green! The chair cos i like the color, the scent cos i love e smell, aft smelling 5 diff types. haha.. I was thr to get some ideas for my imaginary home. Quite a fruitful trip! =D Saw some interesting stuffs + some nice gift ideas. But well.. if u r thinking of getting a gift for some1 and if u want to get it from ikea, i gt sme gd ideas.

For eg, say if its for ur lover, u can get this + attach a card tt says, " My lighthouse, a passionate flame burning." (i got more if u need it. haha)



Or if its for ur admirer, perhaps, " tt's my life without you." haha.. actually i wasn't really shopping for a gift, but i like to come out w nice gift ideas. =D If only thr's a role tt helps complement words w/ gifts, it'd be an interesting one for me. I was kinda attracted to this painting, i felt v comfortable looking at it. (sme actually find me very sad and lonely person). But somehow, I'm just drawn to it.

hi! I'm here to blog! I decided to give myself a break today to update my blog.

The ecp trip. My very nice swim bag and a volleyball. The bicycle bells. My lifesaving course.

Firstly, the day when we scheduled our ECP trip wasn't the perfect kind of weather for a day's out in the morning. It rained. But.. it stopped, just in time when we met up. So the day at the park was windy, the amount and intensity of the sun just right for an enjoyable noon. We had q some jumping sessions, highlight of the day!
The bikes we rented were cheaper than the rest since tony's fren works thr. We stopped halfway for icecream. The aunty is really nice to provide water for washing our hands. Our flavours: 1. honeydew 2. mango 3.nata de coco 4. peppermint w/ choco chips(mine) =) People skiing. i'm just going to try it 1 day. haha! And i saw 1 tt did stunts, but when the camera was put on standby for a close-up shot, he stopped doing it again. haha(oh man..)

And our wonderful meal at the food place. Kerry and I went ordering from the various stalls. and lazy eve stayed to look aft our stuffs. haha.. the food arrived before we finished queuing for the oyster egg. I actually wanted to call u to start eating eve, but both me n kerry dont have our phones w/ us. So.. haha i knew u had a ' good' time staring at the food esp when u're hungry rite? haha we're not evil. We're stalling time for u to appreciate the food more. I don't really like pavilion seats, i find them stuffy. haha. i like the open. I felt flies or mosquitoes flying ard my legs. (donno whether its real mos or imaginary though). Oh. And i went to the toilet. And when i was already inside queuing, an aunty w a roll of toilet paper came, " ni ge yi mao qian le mei you (have u paid the 10c)" haha well.. actually i didn't, but i need the toilet badly, and i was the next 1 in queue, and i dont have any money with me. So i said, 'ge le'. And she gave me 2 pieces of toilet paper. lol~ i brought my own tissue though and i didnt mess up the toilet.(maybe tt just makes her lost a 5c) But thr really isn't any one or any sign tt says PAY 10c.

Food guide says,"Today.. I'm going to introduce you to the food paradise in ECP."

Thanks for the long walk to the bustop! i went Parkway for another rd of dinner. haha. It was kind of Evon to drive kerry and eve home. =) + i really like the le coq bag(i use it as my swimbag) and the colors! iTs Aqua blue, red and white! Thanks gals!~
I'm vanishing!

Okays time to tell u abt my lifesaving.(Thr's supposedly 2 more ladies in e class but i was the only 1 thr.) A all guys class isn't really a prob for me. haha well personally, i feel if u have the correct mentality, tt isnt really a prob.(i said tt to my parents. haha.) My instructor is a 20 yr-old like i am. And he's really mature beyond his years, the way he teaches. Haha.. he really impressed me as a 20 yr-old. For the first session, learnt the diff mthds of rescuing, and i particularly like doing the straddle jump ( a way which ur head wont dip under the water when u jump in the water) First a ultra man pose, jump and spread out ur arms. haha~ Hmm. the rope rescue is nice too. The first time i tried, the rope didn't reach him, and i had to recoil it again. I guess the victim wld have already be unconscious if tt was a real scenario. Hmm.. I'm currently joining 3 courses at a shot, on top of lifesaving, bm and cpr. ( cldnt imagine myself "kissing" manuqins though.) haha~ And i really have to train for less than a min/lap. I'll aim to pass all 3 before my trip to taiwan. ;)After all these, I'll be a qualified lifeguard. But i want more than tt, a swimming coach requires much more.

i guess tt's all for now. haha. + a secret i've to tell u guys! I've found a new love. haha..
